Newly released FBI files revealed that secret documents about the civil rights movement requested by the late Sen. Robert C. Byrd’s were leaked by the CIA. “The documents that reveal the September 1966 leak also describe how it sparked outrage among top FBI officials and prompted an internal CIA probe that singled out two agency employees as the culprits The episode damaged Byrd’s standing with the bureau, though only briefly.” [AP]

The rise in prices of some Midwest crops caused by the drought in the region has helped Mid-Atlantic farmers’ profits. “Farmers in the western part of Maryland are ‘going to have good yields and phenomenal prices.
