After reuniting with his old band to make three fantastic new albums and reissuing classics from the back catalogue, Lou Barlow is back with new Sebadoh material, their first in fourteen years. Sebadoh started as a place for Barlow to vent about his old bandmates, but quickly transformed into an influential and essential ’90s indie band. While the original band reunited many times to play their classic albums on this reunion tour, drummer Eric Gaffney will not be joining the double treat of Barlow and Jason Loewenstein tonight at the Black Cat. The band just released a new EP to fund their new record to be released sometime next year and today’s song of the day, “Keep The Boy Alive,” is the first song from that band’s EP. It’s a definite return to their classic sound. The track sounds like it could fit somewhere between Bakesale or Harmacy and as if the band hasn’t aged a day. Catch Sebadoh tonight and come early for an opening solo set from Barlow. If that’s not enough Lou for you, Barlow will be back with Dinosaur Jr on October 25th.
Sebadoh play tonight with Circle of Buzzards and Sentridoh (Lou Barlow solo) at Black Cat. are Tickets $20.
