Across the Russian Embassy last night, D.C. protestors and local musicians rallied behind members of an all-female Russian punk band who were arrested back in March after singing a song that criticized Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow. “The event was organized by Amnesty International to support three members of the Russian feminist punk band Pussy Riot.” [WTOP]
D.C. police arrested a man who they suspect who may have been involved in several child sex cases. “Police say it appears the same man may have tried to pick up underage boys on several occasions, three of them happening just this week.” [NBC4]
Up north in Annapolis, several lawmakers are meeting at noon to discuss the Maryland’s gambling legislation. “The meeting comes a day after the Maryland Senate voted 28-14 for a measure to expand gambling to include table games and a new casino in Prince George’s County.” [AP]
Parking at the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda is brutally competitive these days. “A spokesman for the sprawling health-care facility, formerly called the National Naval Medical Center (or Bethesda Naval Hospital, for short), acknowledged Friday that authorities are looking into the use of counterfeit parking placards by workers who battle horrendous morning traffic to the reach the campus, off Rockville Pike, but can’t find anywhere to legally park.” [The Post]
