>> Verizon is owning up to its own errors that caused many Northern Virginia communities to be cut off from 911 service after the June 29 derecho storm, WAMU reports. The phone company admitted that it met the storm with “drained batteries, faulty generators and a failure of staff to fully explore the problem contributed to delays in restoring full 911 service,” according to a company report.

>> Eek! NBC4 reports that Metrorail riders this morning got on a Red Line train on which the doors opened during transit. Last time this happened, on the Green Line in July, an operator was put on leave.

>> The D.C. restaurant scene is trying to get back on the TV box. Todd and Ellen Gray, who operate the restaurants Equinox and Watershed, are pitching a reality series, Washingtonian reports. The show is described as Project Runway meets food, which is what I thought the concept of Top Chef was.
