D.C.’s Courtesans is a rocking three-piece that isn’t trying to be hip or overly showy like most bands in the city. Instead, the band makes straight-ahead rock with influences like The Afghan Wigs, The Replacements and bass lines that rip on Peter Hook. The band is playing the Black Cat tonight with Skribe, and today’s song of the day is a Sloan-like rock number, “T. M. Punk.” The track sounds like the band is having a whole lot of fun, with great drum fills and a sweet guitar solo.
