LeDroit Park and Bloomingdale may be burgeoning neighborhoods, but their sewage system needs a lot of work. “As developers have added connections to the sewer lines to serve basement apartments created in old cellars, a sewer system built in the late 1800s is struggling to handle the unprecedented strain.” [The Post]

The Capitol dome is need of repairs, but a stagnant economy and a polarized Congress have placed renovation efforts on the back burner. “While Senate appropriators have voted to repair the dome, which has not undergone major renovations for 50 years, their House counterparts say there is not money right now. In that way, the dome is a metaphor for the nation’s decaying infrastructure.” [NYT]

A study shows that D.C. is one of the top 10 cities for workers age 18 to 29, also known as the “Millenials.” “Payscale compares D.C. with places like Boston, Philadelphia, Houston and Seattle as cities well suited for young professionals based on salary.” [WTOP]

Some local schools are choosing to not assign traditional homework. “While homework is still the norm on most Washington-area campuses, several schools are moving away from the traditional after-hours assignments as research challenges the traditional assumptions about the value of homework.” [The Examiner]

The shooting of a Prince George’s County honor student could’ve been a case of mistaken identity. “Dement thinks the killer got the wrong girl because ‘Amber was such a good kid. There has to be a connection to that other girl.'” [Fox]
