>> D.C. already has its own crime cameras, but that’s not enough for some neighborhoods. The Post reports on a plan by a civic association in Georgetown to install its own security cameras as part of a plan to deter crime. For proponents, it’s merely another tool to use in fighting criminals that break into cars or try to steal cell phones; for opponents, it’s one step too far in creating a fully surveilled society. D.C. police already control 16 mounted and 84 mobile crime cameras.
