A dedicated reader and commenter was kind enough to remind me that today is the last day to vote in the Blade’s 11th Annual Best of Gay D.C. rankings. We’re up for Best Local Blog, and consider this my last (and possibly first, too) plea for your votes.

Think about this: are you better off today than you were four years ago? If so, did DCist have something to do with it? If so, you’re welcome. If not, well, we’re certainly not going to take the blame. If you vote for us and we win, we pledge to you, the American people (in D.C., by and large), that we will continue to push for smaller government, traditional values and strong national defense. OK, definitely not the first two, but we’ll certainly try and produce as much fun and interesting content as you can read on any given day. (We’ll also firmly demand that our national defenses be strong, duh.)

We’re up against some stiff competition: Borderstan, Outrage DC, Prince of Petworth, and Where the Girls Go. While they are all wonderful websites, we’re your obvious choice: Boderstan ends in -stan, which is scary; Outrage DC is too angry; Prince of Petworth harkens back to the days of the monarchy telling you what the scuttlebutt is instead of you telling it; and Where the Girls Go sticks to the shameful tradition of discriminating against men. Look forward, not backward! Upward, not forward! And constantly twirl, twirl towards freedom! With DCist, of course. (If you like Simpsons references, we’re totally worthy of winning.)

Go here to vote. Scroll down the page a bit; we’re stuck between Best Non-Profit and Best Spa/Salon, which I suppose is exactly where we’d want to be. Exercise your franchise before the close of business! Exercise it often, preferably from different computers with different IP addresses! Tell your friends, family and co-workers!

Please. If we don’t win, the overlords in New York will send me to man some provincial start-up blog in Bowie or something.

Thanks! (And if you vote for us, extra thanks. You’re wonderful.)
