Of all the reunited acts to release albums after re-forming (aside from Dinosaur Jr.), the caliber of records Mission of Burma has put out is astounding. Granted, unlike most reunions, Mission Of Burma didn’t re-form to cash in on its legacy. The band didn’t break up because its members hated each other or anything juicy. Rather, singer/guitarist Roger Miller’s tinnitus ended its original run.

Since re-forming in 2002, the band has released four albums, more than its original incarnation, each full of blistering punk rock. This year’s Unsound is no different, though the band left its label Matador to join Fire records, that—mind my bad pun—is on fire right now with ex-Matador acts like Bailterspace and Guided By Voices on the label. Today’s song of the day is a brutal horn ladled cut from Unsound, “What They Tell Me.” The band is playing Black Cat tomorrow, so brace yourself for some total rock action.
