Police say they’ve rescued several people from a boat that capsized yesterday afternoon under the 14th Street bridge. “The department’s harbor unit responded and rescued all 19 people. No injuries were reported.” [AP]

The National Cathedral announced it will not hold 9/11 ceremonies. “But this year, cathedral officials say they will be offering prayers during regularly scheduled services. Those will take place at 8:45 a.m., noon and 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.” [NBC4]

That brief violent storm we’ve been expecting the past few days finally slammed the area, leaving thousands, again, without power. “Pepco is reporting that 5,700 customers, mostly in Prince George’s County, are still in the dark. Officials estimate power will be restored Monday.” [WTOP]

An 84-pound catfish caught in the Potomac River last week has made Maryland officials concerned about the presence of a fish considered to be a predator. “The DNR said blue catfish are natives of t he Mississippi Valley, but were introduced to Virginia’s James and Rappahannock Rivers in the 1970s. They have reproduced and spread throughout the tidal Potomac River system, the DNR said.” [The Post]
