Don’t sweat it, because state authorities are way behind on collecting unpaid tolls owed by people who sail through the E-Z Pass lanes without the requisite transponder, the Post reports. Rental car companies owe hundreds of thousands of dollars, and more than 15,000 individuals owe at least $500 each. And while the state is empowered to hit the delinquent drivers with $50 fines in addition to collecting the tolls, it doesn’t.
