Purity Ring has moved passed a blog curiosity to a reliable band that knows what it’s are doing. The band originally made noise with a handful of blog-hyped singles like “Ungirthed” and “Lofiticries” when it got signed to a big indie label 4AD. Thereafter, it released the stunner of a debut, Shrines, and started touring incessantly with a carefully crafted stage show.
While Purity Ring live and breathe on record, the band’s true home is the stage. It’s making its third outing here in D.C. in under a year with yet another sold-out show at The Rock and Roll Hotel Wednesday night. Having already played the Black Cat Backstage and Red Palace, the band is surely going to play bigger venues soon.
Today’s song of the day, “Fineshrine,” is a stunner. Megan James’s child-like voice is the perfect accompaniment to Corin Roddick’s production.
