Washington Redskins owner Dan Snyder and his wife have already given Republican contender Mitt Romney as much money as they legally can (check his donations here), but that doesn’t mean that the billionaire owner can’t help the floundering campaign raise money from other people. Per Politico’s Playbook:
DAN SNYDER, the beloved Washington Redskins owner, will host Mitt Romney at an upcoming fundraiser at Snyder’s mansion in Potomac, Md.
Romney has attracted support from quite a few billionaires, but what does it say that he’s got Snyder on his side? Let’s review.
>> Taxes and Government Spending: While Snyder is a billionaire and owns one of the most valuable sports franchises in the world, he still believes that jurisdictions should fight over how many tax breaks and giveaways his team should get. Virginia was the latest to bite, giving Snyder a $4 million grant to upgrade the team’s training facility in Ashburn.
>> Income Inequality: Snyder is an unabashed member of the one percent. Last year he sank $70 million into a 224-foot-long yacht, one of the largest and “most beautiful” yachts in the world.
>> Environmentalism: Back in 2004, Snyder decided to cut down 130 trees on federal land that stood between his Potomac manse and the C&O Canal. The problem was that he cut down more trees than he was allowed to, and never really seemed interested in replanting them.
>> Walking: A few years ago Snyder tacked on a parking fee to all tickets for Redskins game, whether or not you arrived in a car. Years before that, he briefly succeeded in banning people from walking to the stadium from the Metro or from nearby parking lots.
>> Freedom of the Press: In early 2011, Snyder filed a $2 million lawsuit against the City Paper for a biting cover story on why fans might not like him. Snyder had a thin case, but he kept on the City Paper’s case until six months later, when he dropped the lawsuit.
And this is but a small sampling of Snyder’s record and what it could say about Romney. But maybe the Huffington Post’s Sam Stein put it best this morning:
Dan Snyder, hosting a Romney fundraiser, is known primarily for overpaying for over-the-hill players.

UPDATE, 12:10 p.m.: Now it looks like that fundraiser might not be on after all.
Despite Politico report, both the Redskins and the Romney campaign say Dan Snyder is not hosting a Romney fundraiser.
