Three students at Ballou Senior High School became sick this morning after eating apples provided to them by a teacher, reports the Post. They were taken to Children’s National Medical Center for observation after complaining of stomach aches. Up to seven other students were being evaluated. In a statement, D.C. Public Schools spokeswoman Melissa Salmanowitz said the situation “has been contained”:
As reported by HSEMA, a limited number of students reported feeling sick after eating apples. The situation has been contained. Fire and safety departments are on site. We are investigating the situation and will release more information when it is confirmed by the appropriate authorities.
