Earlier this year electro-folk pioneers The Books called it quits. While it might have not been an amicable split, the band’s recorded output was some of the most celebrated music from the genre. Co-founder Nick Zammuto hasn’t left music though. Before The Books officially split, he started his own project under his last name, Zammuto. What began as solo recordings quickly turned into a full-fledged band, and this past April saw the release of their debut album Zammuto. The band is playing its first D.C. show tonight at the U Street Music Hall and today’s song of the day is album highlight “F U C-3PO.” The track isn’t far off from the Book’s later material, with the noted addition of Zammuto’s warm vocals.
