>> Police investigating the death Tuesday of a family of four in Herndon, Va., said a man fatally shot his two teenage sons and his wife before turning his gun on himself. Fairfax County Police identified the shooter as 57-year-old Albert Peterson. Peterson; his wife, Kathy; and their sons Matthew and Christopher were found dead Tuesday afternoon. Police were still working to determine Albert Peterson’s motive, but one neighbor told the Post that in recent days Peterson had seemed “morose.”
>> Maryland voters surveyed in a new poll favor upcoming ballot measures that would uphold their state’s same-sex marriage law and allow undocumented immigrants to pay in-state tuition rates at public universities, WAMU reports. But another ballot question that would expand casino gambling is up in the air. Forty-five percent of Maryland voters support the gambling measure, while 46 oppose it. Nine percent are undecided.
>> D.C.’s Adult Protective Services agency has been negligent in reporting to police incidents in which at-risk adults have been abused or exploited, the Washington Examiner reports. A review by D.C. Inspector General Charles Willoughby says the lack of collaboration between the protective service and the Metropolitan Police Department risks “continued harm to seniors and the disabled.”
