It’s Mango! The adorable little dachshund-pinscher mix who was reported stolen yesterday from an Eastern Shore animal shelter has been returned safely. The Post’s Michael Rosenwald reports that Mango reappeared last night after being found in the most random way:
Late last night, the executive director of the Animal Resource Foundation contacted me to say that Mango had been returned by a man who said he found the 7-week-old puppy in a box in his yard.
Having seen flyers with Mango’s picture, the man called the director, Susan Beall, and made arrangements to drop the dog off.
“I do not believe he was the one that actually took the dog,” Beall said in an e-mail.
The man who found Mango in a box on his lawn also declined the $1,000 reward the Animal Resource Foundation, a Chester, Md. shelter, offered for the puppy’s recovery. Mango is back with his family, and presumably, he won’t have another run-in with the couple who snatched him the other day.
