The Post reports that 11 people were arrested yesterday outside Nationals Park for trying to resell their tickets, which is against the law regardless of price. One person who was arrested said he merely raised his hand and spoke to a stranger, but didn’t really sell a ticket. He was fined $50.

>> A plan to trim the University of District of Columbia’s faculty, staff and academic offerings to cut costs received tepid support at a D.C. Council hearing yesterday, writes the Examiner. While many admit that the university is too costly for what it offers, others worry that making cuts will only lead even fewer students to see it as a viable option. Additionally, many lawmakers seem to want to make sure that the new community college is largely left alone.

WTOP reports that Metro board member Tom Downs wants the transit agency to invest in better speakers so that information and announcements can be more easily heard by riders, especially during emergencies.
