Rumors started flying this afternoon that someone important would be dining on H Street NE this evening, and from the look and sound of it, it’s gonna be President Obama.
Tweeters have reported seeing U.S. Secret Service and MPD outside the restaurant, and within the last hour a white tent arrived for installation in front of the restaurant’s entrance. (The tent allows Obama to safely walk out of the presidential limo and into wherever he’s going.) Granville Moore’s, located across the street, has been locked down, the restaurant reports. Moreover, Obama’s official schedule says that he’ll be at a dinner with campaign contributors at 6:30 p.m.
Are we jumping ahead of ourselves? Maybe, but all the signs point to a presidential visit. The last time that such preparations were undertaken at a local eatery was in late August, was President Obama and the First Lady dined at Adams Morgan’s Mintwood Place. This will be the second such dinner on H Street—in March, he ate at Boundary Road.
For those of you that drive or take buses down H Street, you’d be advised to find alternate routes quickly.
