The two local hikers who were reported missing last weekend at Glacier National Park in Montana have been found, and both appear to be “fine.” NBC4 reports that Neal Peckens of Herndon, Va., and Jason Hiser of Richmond were located Monday and flown out of the park last night.
Park rangers conducted the search for most of the weekend until inclement weather forced them to go back:
Park rangers located the vehicle used by the men Friday and began a formal search Saturday. According to the park service, six teams of search personnel hiked trails in the area while a simultaneous aerial search was conducted. However, officials say that bad weather had hampered the search effort Saturday and additional personnel were brought in to aid the search Sunday.
Some trails in the high-altitude park are already under 18 inches of snow, with drifts as high as five feet, the Associated Press reports.
