Dinosaur Jr. is one or the few bands to reunite and put out a set of records that not only meets the quality of the original run, but surprisingly exceeds its first three records’ greatness. Considering the turmoil between J Mascis and Lou Barlow, all signs should point to a train-wreck, but instead Dinosaur Jr. is just as thrilling as it was in the 80s. The band’s latest record, I Bet On The Sky, is an instant classic, and while it might be sacrilegious to say, I think it bests Bug in almost every way. The guitars still howl, and J Mascis’s ageless drawl is still intact—no wonder the band is playing to a sold-out Black Cat tonight. Today’s song of the day is a thrilling track from the new record, “Watch The Corners.” Take a listen and try hanging around the Black Cat door tonight to scoop up tickets if you can.
