The Old 97’s have been around for almost twenty years, and surprisingly the old bar band has kept the same four members. While the band’s first two albums Hitchhike to Rhome and Wreck of Your Life brought it some attention in the alt-country scene, it was the 1997 album Too Farm To Care that became an instant classic and is still a high-water mark. 2012 marks the 15th anniversary of that album, and The Old 97’s are playing the album in full tonight at a sold-out 9:30 Club Show. Toady’s song of the day is the first track off the album and one of the band’s most loved tracks, “Timebomb.” The song is an upbeat fist-pumper that straddles the line between straight up country and alternative rock.
The Old 97’s play tonight with Salim Nourallah and a special Rhett Miller solo set at the 9:30 Club. Tickets are sold out.
