Mayor Vince Gray announced that the District of Columbia government wil be closed tomorrow as Hurricane Sandy approaches. Earlier this evening the White House Office of Personnel Management said that the federal government will be shuttered tomorrow. Bonus public-sector holiday!

Seriously, though, the D.C. government has been laying out its preparations for the mammoth storm all day. Earlier today D.C. Public Schools announced its schools will be shuttered tomorrow.

Unfortunately, the government closing tomorrow could very well mean that there will not be any early voting. (The D.C. Board of Elections hasn’t yet announced its plans for tomorrow, but all the locations are in buildings operated by the D.C. government.) Kind of a bummer, considering the lines wouldn’t be terribly long with everyone staying home to avoid getting blown away by an oncoming hurricane.
