Lonely and looking for a date? Or maybe someone to vote for on the D.C. Council? Look no further than OKCupid, where Council Chair Phil Mendelson will capture your heart—and your vote.

A friend of DCist reported yesterday seeing ads for Mendelson’s election campaign on OKCupid, a popular dating site. (Mendelson’s campaign also advertises on DCist.) According to a spokesman for Mendelson’s campaign, that the ads appeared on the dating site was just dumb luck. “Turns out it’s just happenstance,” he said. “The ads were placed automatically via the Google display network. It targets by geography and voting age.”

OKCupid is said to have north of seven million members. We put in a call to see how many were in D.C., but haven’t heard back.
