BOOK FAIR: Join more than 90 nationally known writers autographing and selling their books at the National Press Club’s 35th Annual Book Fair & Authors’ Night from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the club (529 14th Street NW, 13th Floor). The evening will combine a night of literary fun with a fundraiser for the National Press Club Journalism Institute, which provides college scholarships, training for journalists and awards for excellence in journalism. Free for members, $10 for the public. Tickets can be bought here.

GUERILLA GEOGRAPHER: Think geography is just reading maps and memorizing names of places? Don’t tell that to Daniel Raven-Ellison. A self-described “guerrilla geographer,” Raven-Ellison believes in challenging people to experience the world around them in a more meaningful, surprising way, such as taking a photo every eight steps as they travel across the urban landscape. He’ll be speaking tonight at National Geographic Live (1600 M Street NW). 7 p.m. $25.

BEER DINNER: Head up to Maggianos in Friendship Heights (5333 Wisconsin Avenue NW) for a four-course beer dinner paired with beers from the Flying Dog Brewery in Frederick. 6:30 p.m. $50. Call 202-966-3108 to reserve a seat.

CHEAP GLASSES FOR EVERYONE: Everyone knows that buying glasses is a bit of a racket: one company controls the overwhelming majority of the brands and retailers, making prescription glasses and sunglasses extremely expensive. Enter online retailer Warby Parker, which has made a name for itself selling low-priced and stylish glasses. Starting today the company will bring its many models to the Woodrow Wilson Plaza (1300 Pennsylvania Avenue NW) as part of a national tour—in a school bus, no less. 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
