PHOTOJOURNALISM: Join Magnum photographers Larry Towell and Peter van Agtmael to examine the role of free and independent photojournalism in society. Mary Anne Golon, Director of Photography at The Washington Post moderates the discussion, and Delphine Halgand, D.C. BEER: Head over to Churchkey (1337 14th Street NW) tonight for the Allagash Cookbook Release. SILENT MOVIES: The Alden Theatre, at the McLean Community Center (1234 Ingleside Avenue), is bringing back its Classics of the Silent Screen film series, featuring four silent films in the coming months. Each film is accompanied by live music and introduced by a film historian and preservationist. Tonight see “Silent Stocking Stuffers,” a collection of short films, including The Courtship of Miles Sandwich and Our Gang, at 7:30 p.m. The next silent film nights will be January 9, March 13, and May 15. Purchase tickets to all four films in the series for $35, or $10 each (or $6 for McLean residents).
