Mayor Vince Gray attended the groundbreaking of Canal Park near Nationals Park today, and as part of the festivities he drove a Zamboni on the park’s new ice skating rink. While awesome, we still liked it better when he climbed on heavy machinery and participated in demolishing the Skyland shopping center in Southeast D.C.

UPDATE, 8:15 p.m.: Well, then. We received a letter from the Zamboni Company informing us that Gray was not actually on a Zamboni, and that us saying so would constitute trademark infringement:

We received a link to your photo which features an Olympia ice resurfacer with an improper reference to ZAMBONI in the headline as well as the caption. References to our brand name in connection with a product which was not manufactured by the Zamboni Company may dilute and damage our marks. As such, we must ask that you correct the reference to remove ZAMBONI and replace it with the proper brand name or generic descriptor.

So let the record now show that Gray was on an Olympia ice resurfacer. An attachment from the Zamboni Company is below.
