MOVIES: In advance of his latest film, Life of Pi, the AFI Silver Theatre (8633 Colesville Road Silver Spring, MD) is celebrating the Films of Ang Lee through December 19. Included in the series are Lee’s films The Ice Storm, Hulk, Ride with the Devil, Sense and Sensibility, Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, and Brokeback Mountain. Tonight, see Ride with the Devil at 6:45 p.m. $11.

MUSIC: Public Enemy plays the 9:30 Club (815 V Street NW) tonight on The Hip Hop Gods Tour with X-Clan, Monie Love, Schoolly D, Leaders of the New School, Wise Intelligent, Son of Bazerk and No Self Control, Awesome Dre, Davy DMX, and DJ Johnny Juice. 7:00 p.m. $35.

BEER: Sample eight beers from Japan’s Baird Brewing Company at Churchkey (1337 14th Street NW) tonight. THURSDAY: Already in the holiday spirit, Bier Baron (1523 22nd Street NW) is hosting an “Anchor Before Xmas Party and Ugly Sweater Contest” this Thursday, offering sampler flights of Anchor’s Christmas ales and a $50 gift certificate to the attendee with the best ugly sweater. 7:00-9:00 p.m.

FRIDAY: Local indie rockers Ugly Purple Sweater play the Kennedy Center Millennium Stage (2700 F Street NW) Friday. 6:00 p.m. Free.

SATURDAY: The Drafting Table (1529 14th Street) is launching new Futbol Weekend Brunches on Saturdays and Sundays this December, offering brunch dishes paired with European futbol games on three TVs. The kickoff is this Saturday, December 1, with the West Ham United vs. Chelsea game at 8:00 a.m. followed by the Arsenal vs. Swansea City and Tottenham Hotspur vs. Fulham games at 10 a.m. As a part of this first new brunch event, customers in attendance between 9:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. will receive a free Sexy Egg Sandwich.
