Outraged over the possibility that a budget deficit cutting deal could bring severe cuts to federal programs that combat AIDS and HIV, a group of protesters bared their feelings—and much more—when they staged a protest in House Speaker John A. Boehner’s (R-Ohio) district office.

The demonstration was organized by ACT UP, a New York-based group that lobbies for increased government funding of AIDS prevention efforts. But with World AIDS Day approaching on Saturday and with Congress and the White House negotiating around a so-called “fiscal cliff,” the organization attempted to take their concerns directly to one of the lead negotiators’ offices.

And once there, seven of the protesters got naked, revealing their flesh wearing little more than some not-so-strategically placed body paint.

“Boehner, Bohener, don’t be a dick. Budget cuts will make us sick,” they chanted in the foyer of the speaker’s office in the Longworth House Office Building. About 50 more protesters—clothed, by the way—rallied outside Boehner’s door.

U.S. Capitol Police officers were dispatched to the scene and removed the protesters from the office. Police also cleared reporters covering the demonstration from the adjoining corridor.

“We didn’t just take our clothes off because we like being nude,” one protester said after putting his clothes back on, as viewed on a live video stream.

Three female protesters were arrested on charges of lewd behavior and indecent exposure, a Capitol Police spokeswoman said.
