BranchA 24-year-old D.C. man who killed a six-month-old puppy earlier this year by dropping a 90-pound cement slab on its head was sentenced to 120 days in jail today.
Sean Delontay Branch pleaded guilty to the killing in September, and he could have faced up to five years in jail for a charge of felony animal cruelty.
According to a press release from the office of U.S. Attorney for D.C. Ron Machen, Judge Herbert Dixon opted for four months in prison and three years of supervised release, along with an anger management class and $450 to be paid to a crime victims’ fund.
Branch killed the puppy, named King Tut, as it napped outside a convenience store along Mt. Olivet Road NE in June. Branch said he dropped the cement slab on the puppy because he was mad at its owner.
