2012 is the year emo/pop-punk got a re-evaluation. The Promise Ring, Refused and Taking Back Sunday all dusted off their classic tracks for a tour, but what about the bands that never quit? Well TRL favorites like Yellowcard are still around and putting out albums that make the editors at A.P. cream. With all the new music that has come out, it is easy to forget that Canadian pop-punkers Sum 41 are still an active band. The four-piece released a record last year, but the biggest headline to cross over was when singer Deryck Whibley and his now girlfriend Ari Cooper dressed up as Whibley’s ex-wife Avril Lavigne and her new fiance Chad Kroeger from Nickelback this past Halloween. For all of you authority haters who never grew up and are still rocking those oversized Dickies shorts, you are in luck: Sum 41 are playing the Fillmore Silver Spring tonight and they are playing their 2002 record Does This Look Infected in full (and no this is not the record with their biggest hit “Fat Lip,” though they will play that, too). Today’s Song of the Day is the first single from DTLI, “Still Waiting.”
Sum 41 plays tonight at the Fillmore Silver Spring. Tickets are more then buying all of thier CDs from the bargain bin, and by that I mean $20.
