A driver who crashed a Subaru Outback into the McDonald’s restaurant at 2481 18th Street NW this afternoon may have suffered a medical emergency. The crash prompted authorities to shut down the busy intersection with Columbia Road in the heart of Adams Morgan.
The Metropolitan Police Department reported about 2:45 p.m. that the vehicle, which appears to be a black Subaru with Maryland license plates, drove through the front of the restaurant. Officers have cordoned off the intersection, which is at the top of an entertainment strip usually packed with diners and revelers every Friday evening.
MPD reported that two people suffered minor cuts in the collision. One person was inside the restaurant, and they suffered a minor leg injury. The crash is being investigated as an accident.
