Just as some Metrobus drivers are worried about getting rocks thrown at them or having passenger boarding their buses get shot, today something different happened: a Metrobus driver was arrested for allegedly being the driver in a 2010 killing, writes the Examiner:
Stacy Lorenzo Reed was charged with being involved in a botched robbery of the owner of a check cashing business that resulted in the death of an employee.
According to charging documents filed in U.S. District Court in Alexandria, two gunman entered the Centreville residence of the owner of the check cashing business in May 17, 2010, and a struggle ensued.
One of the men shot and killed Jose Cardona, the family’s handyman. The gunman fled in a pickup truck.
One of the men, Reynard Prather, 22, pleaded guilty earlier this year to conspiracy affecting commerce by robbery, and using a firearm in a conspiracy that caused a death. He was sentenced to 30 years.
The other man, Tasheik Champean, 45, pleaded guilty last week to the conspiracy.
Reed is accused of being the getaway driver.
Reed was arrested at the Pentagon while driving her route; she’s been put on paid administrative leave. The incident she’s accused of participating predates her employment at Metro, which started in August 2012.
This is obviously much more serious than the time a Metrobus driver stopped his bus to punch McGruff the crime dog.
