We gave you lots of good ideas for D.C.-themed gifts earlier this month, but as most of those items are available only by mail order, chances are they won’t arrive in time if you order them today. So, as Christmas shopping slackers race to to the malls today, we figured the very least we could do was tell you when various shopping centers are planning on closing tonight.

The bad news: Pretty darn soon.

Mazza Gallerie (5300 Wisconsin Avenue NW): Anchored by Neiman Marcus, the Sak’s Fifth Avenue men’s store and Williams-Sonoma, this fancy-pants mall is closing at 5 p.m. At least it’s Metro accessible.

Fashion Centre at Pentagon City (1100 South Hayes Street, Arlington): Hey, what’s the deal with these shopping malls misspelling the word “center”? Is there a documented connection between phony Britishisms and increased retail sales? Anyway, the Fashion Centre has an Apple Store, so if you need to punch out your fellow shoppers en route to picking up that iPad Mini, make sure you tape your fists first. Closes at 6 p.m., but it is Metro accessible.

Tysons Galleria (2001 International Drive, McLean): The good news? This place is really fancy. The bad news? That means the merchandise is more expensive. The badder news? You can only access this mall by a convoluted patchwork of half-built highways. The baddest news? It’s in Fairfax County. Also, it closes at 6 p.m., so if you leave right now, you might get there in time to see the David Yurman store manager lock the doors.

Montgomery Mall (7101 Democracy Boulevard, Bethesda): Fair warning: You’ll have to navigate through a sea of Maryland drivers if you want to do your last-minute, oh-shit Christmas shopping at this suburban landmark. Stores close at 6 p.m.

The Mall at Prince George’s (3500 East West Highway, Hyattsville): Don’t get thrown off by the countdown on this mall’s website, which suggests that the opportunity to complete one’s Christmas shopping ends at midnight. The shopping center formerly known as Prince George’s Plaza is closing at 8 p.m.

So, best of luck. And, if you still need to buy a gift for your DCist editors, please consult the Capital Gifts series. Or, in lieu of that, the December 2012 issue of Wired.
