Vincent Orange, fighting Kwame Brown for Gray’s seat, went with a smaller Cadillac SUV than his competitor. What, he couldn’t afford an orange paint job?

The accolades continue to pile on for Robert Griffin III. The ‘Skins quarterback was named to the NFC’s Pro Bowl team yesterday, becoming just the second rookie passer to be named to an NFL all-star roster.

Before Griffin, only Dan Marino, in 1983, was the only rookie quarterback to be an original pick for the annual game in Hawaii. RGIII also becomes the first ‘Skins quarterback to go to the Pro Bowl since Brad Johnson in 1999.

Joining Griffin as the NFC’s quarterbacks will be Atlanta’s Matt Ryan and Green Bay’s Aaron Rodgers, who has been named as the starter. (Incidentally, Rodgers is the only quarterback in the NFL with a better passer rating than Griffin.) In 14 games so far, Griffin has amassed 3,100 yards and 20 touchdowns, with just five interceptions, tying him for the lowest amount in the league.

It is possible that Griffin could get the start, though. Players whose teams make the Super Bowl, which follows the Pro Bowl, are removed from the conference all-star rosters. No sense in getting dinged up in an exhibition match before the big game. So if the Packers make it all the way, that could clear the way for Griffin. Conversely, should the ‘Skins continue their newfound success into the playoffs, it could be Griffin who skips the trip to Hawaii.

The Pro Bowl is scheduled for January 27 at Aloha Stadium in Honolulu.
