>> U.S. Attorney Ron Machen, who spent 2012 putting away members of the D.C. Council and is still investigating Mayor Vince Gray’s 2010 campaign, is moving out of the District for a little while. The Post reports that Machen and his family are returning to their Silver Spring home because the lease on the D.C. house they have been living in since his appointment was not renewed. The District is one of three jurisdictions where the local U.S. attorney does not have to be an immediate resident, but Machen told the Post he plans to return to D.C.
>> This is more like it. Maryland Live!, the gigantic slot machine parlor at Arundel Mills Mall, went 24-hours yesterday, WAMU reports. Until voters passed a referendum expanding casino gambling last month, the casino had been required to close for a few hours every morning, but now you can play the slots round the clock. Table games arrive next month.
>> Red Line passengers during rush hour yesterday were held up when a woman went into labor aboard a train at Gallery Place. Metro spokesman Dan Stessel tells DCist that the woman’s water broke; emergency services were called and the woman was moved off the train by D.C. Fire and Emergency Medical Services. The woman later gave birth at George Washington University Hospital.
