Toro Y Moi has come a long way from the bedroom chill-wave pop of his first album. Since Chazwick Bundick pulled a 180 on his second album Underneath the Pine, Toro Y Moi has moved into lite funk and synth-pop. His upcoming record Anything in Return is a huge leap forward, as it fully merges the synth pop leanings of the first album and side project Les Sins, while expanding the funk aspects of Underneath the Pine. Today’s song of the day is the record’s second single and dance floor banger, “Say That.” The track’s chorus sweetly takes a vocal samples and loops it to a pleasing climax, while Bundick’s voice fills in the gaps.
