There are boy bands like One Direction and The Wanted, and then there are boy-bands like the Jonas Brothers. Sure, both have teenagers, but the key difference is some just sing their songs and the others actually play all their instruments. Action Item is the second coming of the Jonas Brothers, a band primed for Disney-fied success, but filtered through years of emo-rock like Owl City and the unfortunate Boys Like Girls. The five-piece band has released two EPs of catchy pop-rock with a sound that sounds like robots rather then a live band, but whatever they sell records, right. Today, the band makes a stop at the U Street Music Hall, so today’s song of the day is their single “Learn to Fly,” which just happens to be produced by Nick Jonas. The track is about letting go of someone so you can make your own mistakes. So if you happen to be by the club tonight, or early this evening and see a line of teen girls, you know what they are there for.

Action Item plays tonight with Before You Exit, Paradise Fears, Hello Highway, The Atlantic Light at the U Street Music Hall. Tickets $15.
