Tereu Tereu are not the same band they were five years ago. The first incarnation was an indie-pop band focusing on playful tracks with no real grit. Tereu Tereu version 2.0 is all grit. Frontman Ryan Little may have lost most of the band, but him and drummer Brendan Polmer are now making the music they want to make: angular post-punk with as much noise as they like. Little has also ventured out into the record label business and his own imprint Bad Friends Records. Tonight the label is holding a showcase at U Street Music Hall with Tereu Tereu, Tommy Siegel (of ex-D.C. band Jukebox The Ghost) and headlined by blues rockers Laughing Man. Today’s song of the day is a newer cut from Tereu Tereu, from their 2011 EP NW “Savage Love.” The five-minute song is a straight up rocker and is even better in a live setting.
Tereu Tereu plays tonight with Tommy Siegel and Laughing Man at the U Street Music Hall. Tickets are $10.
