If you need basic DMV services these days, you’ve got three options: the Southwest Service Center on M Street SW, the Penn Branch Service Center on Pennsylvania Avenue SE or the C Street Service Center on C Street NW. Well, soon you’ll have one more place to go.
D.C. DMV Director Lucinda Babers said yesterday on a Ward 5 listserv that a new service center would be coming to the Rhode Island Avenue Row Complex right by the Rhode Island Avenue Red Line Metro station. The new center will provide licensing, titling and registration services.
The new service center will be a relief to those who used to rely on the Brentwood Center, which closed in 2009, and those still feeling displaced by the shuttering of the DMV location in the Georgetown Park Mall, which is currently undergoing redevelopment. (The service center is expected to reopen.)
No firm opening date for the new service center has yet been set.
