>> Holy crap! Despite our distrust of the weatherman, it actually snowed overnight, with more flakes continuing to gently descend this morning. The accumulation isn’t much, with just between half an inch and an inch of snow falling in D.C., but it’s still the first memorable snowfall the city has seen in a couple of years. D.C. Public Schools are running on schedule, and federal employees have the option of unscheduled telework today.

>> The Rev. Gary Hall is leading the Washington National Cathedral into a different kind of house of worship—one with an activist bent, The Washington Post reports. In the past month, Hall has used his sermons to make outspoken pleas for gun control and has announced that the church—which serves as the seat of Episcopalianism—will begin conducting same-sex marriage ceremonies.

>> Keith Forney, the contractor who built the Deanwood Recreation Center, says the city owes him more than $700,000 for the grand opening party, signs and decorations and job training and other community programs—including some $273,000 to Peaceoholics, the non-violence program founded by Adrian Fenty superfriend Ron Moten. Loose Lips reports that Forney’s attempts to recoup the funds have been met with rejection, with D.C. Attorney General Irv Nathan writing that it was an improper use of construction money.

>> Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley is a reasonably popular guy, but his constituents apparently either don’t want to share him with the rest of the nation, or they think he’s not a worthy potential successor to President Obama. A poll commissioned by The Washington Examiner found that while O’Malley enjoys a 51 percent favorability rating, with higher marks for his positions on gun control, same-sex marriage and other topics, only 25 percent say he should run for the big job in 2016.
