
President Obama inauguration was a moment of joy for many. But for one man, the symbolic moment was ruined by an oppressive state that wanted to kill his buzz. He didn’t back down, though, but rather risked life and limb to stand for a simple principle: drunk street-walking is an American birthright, damn it.
OK, so that might be taking things a step to far, but someone captured a post-inaugural reveler stumbling down the street earlier this week and interacting—if you want to put it that way—with D.C. firefighters and motorists. The amateur video is surprisingly well-produced; it really gives the viewer a sense of just how drunk this guy must have been to not only stumble into the street, but actually ask passing motorists for a job after hitting their cars. (We’ve tried to get in touch with the person who captured the scene and produced the video, but have not yet received a response.)
It’s truly human drama at its best, and it speaks to the America we live in today. Take a look:
