Let’s face it: Ian MacKaye is never going to join Twitter. The Fugazi, Minor Threat and Evens singer’s idea of social networking is checking out whoever’s hanging out at La Casa in Mount Pleasant on any given weekend night, or lingering around the sound truck at Fort Reno.

But, hey, nothing wrong with a fake Ian MacKaye, especially if it’s poorly spelled and extra sparkly. The owner of Twitter account “oWtuvStEp143″—which, far as we can tell, is a combination of letters and numbers in reference to the Minor Threat song “Out of Step”—is posting under the handle “♥ ~*iAn_mAckaYe*~ ♥” with observations about the hardcore scene of old and the upcoming opportunities for The Evens, such as their upcoming sets at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival.

Here are some of mAckaYe’s best tweets. As Mike Paarlberg notes over on Arts Desk, it’s oddly addicting to see the 50-year-old bard of Mount Pleasant re-imagined as a teenage girl.
