The ‘Skins didn’t last long in the NFL playoffs, and who knows who will be starting at quarterback come the beginning of the 2013 season, but at least the team knows how to mark its most successful season in 13 years.
By raising ticket prices.
The team announced yesterday it is raising the cost of seeing a football game in Landover, Md. by “no more than 10 percent,” according to The Washington Post. But the ‘Skins’ silver lining is that even with the increased prices, FedEx Field will still “remain among the most affordable in the NFC East.”
Which is true. The average cost of a ‘Skins game is $79.13, compared to $111.69 for the New York Giants or $110.20 for the Dallas Cowboys, according to FanCostExperience.com, which tracks the prices of attending major sporting events. (Both of those teams, though, have two-year-old stadiums, compared to 16-year-old FedEx Field.) Though ‘Skins’ fans often complain that the team tries to squeeze every last cent from their wallets, Washington football fans in fact pay the 11th-highest average ticket price in the NFL.
According to a ‘Skins press release, fans have a lot to be thankful for, so they shouldn’t worry about coughing up a bit more:
Redskins Pro Bowlers Robert Griffin III, Trent Williams, Lorenzo Alexander, Ryan Kerrigan and London Fletcher along with stars Alfred Morris and Pierre Garçon, will defend their NFC East title against a home schedule that features marquee matchups against NFC East divisional rivals, as well as historical powers like the San Francisco 49ers and Chicago Bears.
So, it’ll be a little pricier next year when the ‘Skins defend their division title. And, oh, yeah, the cost of parking was raised to $40.
