Australian quintet and Astralwerks signees Gold Fields return to D.C. tonight in advance of the release of their debut album, Black Sun, out February 26. The band blends indie rock with danceable rhythms and a hint of psychedelia and tribal influences, much like Friendly Fires. They have already debuted two tracks from their album, and just released “Happy Boy” last week. “Happy Boy,” today’s Song of the Day, is a shimmering four-minute track that encapsulates the band’s influences and sounds, creating a song that reminiscent of the late night disco found on the last Friendly Fires record.

Gold Fields play tonight with A Silent Film and American Authors at U Street Muisc Hall. Tickets are $15.
