George Clinton is a living legend. He is the living essence of funk music, and hasn’t really slowed down in five decades of being an innovator. As the leader of both Parliament and Funkadelic, Clinton created high-minded funk music that twisted the preconceived notions of what funk is by mixing influences from all over the musical spectrum. Tonight, Clinton and his fully fused Parlaiment and Funkadelic groups play 9:30 Club. Today’s song of the day is the classic track “Maggot Brain” from Funkadelic’s 1971 album of the same name. The song is a ten-minute guitar solo featuring the chops of Eddie Hazel.

George Clinton and Parliament Funkadelic play tonight at the 9:30 Club. Tickets are $45.
