Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin went on a Twitter blitz against The Washington Post today after one of the paper’s bloggers, Suzi Parker, took as legitimate news a very obviously satirical story about the one-time Republican Party vice-presidential nominee.

The Daily Currant, which publishes farcical stories about national and international figures, ran an item last week in which it suggested that Palin, not always known for her overtures to the MIddle East, would join Qatar-based Al Jazeera as it establishes an American channel. (Palin was recently dumped as a Fox News contributor, and Al Jazeera just bought Current TV, the Al Gore-founded channel that went through several iterations, most recently an MSNBC imitator.)

Parker took The Daily Currant’s item as truth, and used it as a basis for a post on her “She the People” Post blog about Palin’s desperation to stay in the national conversation.

Well, it certainly put Palin back in the spotlight. Of course, she’s not joining Al Jazeera, and the Post was forced to run the following correction on Parker’s post:

An earlier version of this post incorrectly reported that Sarah Palin had signed on as a contributor to the Al Jazeera America news network. The blogger cited a report on the Daily Currant Web site as the basis for that information without realizing that the piece was satirical.

Heh. That correction is even more of a laugher than The Daily Currant’s piece, which isn’t that funny.

But it didn’t stop there. Palin—the real Sarah Palin—caught wind and took it as an opportunity to goof on the Post:

Good one? It’s funnier than what The Daily Currant wrote, at least. So confused.
