>> Metro received 99 formal complaints of sexual harassment on trains and buses in 2012, reports the Examiner. The complaints resulted in 22 police investigations and one arrest; Metro police also saw 14 other sex crimes themselves. Metro launched a public service campaign and set up a website to take reports last year after receiving complaints from women that the transit agency wasn’t taking the issue seriously.
>> D.C. Del. Eleanor Holmes Norton isn’t happy that President Obama didn’t mention D.C. voting rights in yesterday’s State of the Union address, writes the Post. Norton pushed White House officials for the issue to be included in the speech, and send Obama a letter in which she cited the various presidents that had mentioned the city’s status in their annual addresses to Congress.
>> The Virginia House of Delegates voted yesterday to grant additional privacy protections to gun-owners who have concealed carry permits, reports WAMU. Under the bill, county clerks will be forbidden from releasing the names of those Virginia who carry concealed weapons. The bill now goes to the Senate for an up or down vote.
