It is incredible what a three-song EP can do. Last year the sister act HAIM shed their early teen-pop roots and released a three-song EP that caught the Internet by storm. With sharp hooks and catchy melodies intertwining Fleetwood Mac pop and R&B influences, the trio’s Forever EP gained them an instant in with Polydor Records in the UK. Haim also topped the BBC’s Sound of 2013 poll, guaranteeing them lots of press. The band has played with lots of big names, including Ke$ha and Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros, as well as former and current tour mates, Grammy Award-winning artists Mumford and Sons. Tonight the trio play their second show in the area with Mumford and Sons, and also a special headlining gig at U Street Music Hall. Today’s song of the day is the band’s latest track off an EP set for releases in April, “Falling.” The catchy track was produced by Ariel Rectshaid, the man who gave Sky Ferreira a new look, and he continues his success with the track that reflects the current scene of 80’s inspired California pop.
Haim play tonight with Mumford and Sons at a sold-out Patriot Center as well as with the Virgins at the U Street Music Hall (also Sold Out).
