BURLESQUE: Broadway Burlesque Revue will celebrate the troupe’s eight-year anniversary and feature a special number by founder Kitty Victorian. It’s at the oldest continually operating lesbian bar in the country. Think Sondheim, peacock-feather fans and Olympic-level twirling tassels. “Prepare to be dazzled. We’ve got everything. Live singing, dancing, and lots of boobs,” says Private Tails, the show’s producer. 9 p.m. at Phase 1 (525 8th Street SE). $10.
FOREIGN LANGUAGE FILMS: If you want to catch up on the five movies that were nominated for Best Foreign Language Film for the 85th Annual Academy Awards next week, National Geographic Live is screening them all over the course of the weekend. Kon-Tiki and No are sold out, but Saturday’s showing of A Royal Affair and Amour and Sunday’s War Witch still have tickets available for $9 a pop. Receptions will happen before or after each film.
MUSIC: Local favorites Ra Ra Rasputin play the Strathmore (5301 Tuckerman Lane, Bethesda) tonight, with Miyazaki opening. Standing room only. 9 p.m. $12.

GO-GO: If you’re a music or a social studies teacher in D.C., this is for you: Teaching for Change is teaming up with DCPS for “Teach the Beat: Go-Go In D.C.,” a day-long seminar on the city’s most influential indigenous music form. Participants will be engaged in interactive sessions with renowned go-go performers and scholars Sugar Bear, JuJu, Sweet Cherie, JB, Stanley Cooper, Go-Go Mickey, and many more. Runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the D.C. Commission on the Arts and Humanities office (200 I Street SE). RSVP here.
MARDI GRAS: Laissez les bons temps rouler! For the first time ever, Events DC and LivingSocial are partnering to create a Mardi Grassoirée featuring Big Easy-style food and fun—at the historic Carnegie Library (801 K Street NW). For $99 you get open wine and beer bar and all-you-can-eat Cajun buffet with traditional Louisiana specialties with dishes; for $149 you get VIP access to a private room, buffet and bar. 9 p.m.
CELEBRATE WASHINGTON: George Washington, that is. If the man were still alive, he’d be turning 281 years old next week. And to celebrate him, Alexandria has a whole slate of of events planned for the long weekend, from a 10K race to a banquet and ball to a parade. All the happenings are here.

TRIBUTE: This past week marked both the birthday and anniversary of the death of producer/rapper James “Jay Dee/J Dilla” Yancey. As has become customary around this time of year, artists will be paying tribute to his music. This year, the “D.C. Loves Dilla” show at the U Street Music Hall will feature Dilla friend Waajeed and DJs Roddy Rod, 2-Tone Jones, Quartermaine, Book, Marshall Law, Minus 9, Harvey Dent and R.B.I. 9 p.m. $10.
